In addition to earning first place in their division, the Steele band won best music, best visual, best visual effect, and 2nd place percussion.

The band’s show included music composed by the renowned composer of band and orchestra literature, Robert W. Smith. The music was inspired by Dante’s The Divine Comedy.

The Steele Band’s exciting arrangement, written by local band arranger Jair Klarfeld, included Inferno, Paradiso, and Purgatorio. While the musical selections are from The Divine Comedy, the marching show told the story of volcanic eruptions in a land of paradise.

The band is also in the process of planning indoor guard and marching percussion competitions. Since earning 2nd place in last year’s state competition for the Texas Color Guard Circuit, these two groups hope to improve upon their success through the performance of exciting shows.
