New York—Communications Arts High School (Northside ISD) was among fourteen Texas public schools, and the only one in San Antonio, in Newsweek magazine’s 2008 ranking of the best 100 of 1,355 ranked U.S. high schools, a scant 5% of the nation’s 27,000 other similar institutions.
The schools were rated according to the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2007, divided by the number of graduating seniors. All of the schools on the list have an index of at least 1.000.
Communications Arts High School, ranked number 26 with an index of 5.245, admits students from Northside who want to pursue courses leading into the communications field. Other, more standard high school classes must be taken as well.
