San Antonio Board of REALTORS® releases February 2009 real estate statistics
San Antonio, TX – March 16, 2009 - According to the February 2009 Multiple Listing Service report by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR), the volume of single-family home
sales in February increased from January 2009 by 36 percent, but was down 26 percent when compared to February 2008. The average price in San Antonio increased by 3% to $177,949 in February 2009 compared to $172,208 in February 2008, and the median price remained steady at $145,100 compared to February 2008 when the median price was $144,900.
“Although the number of sales are lower year-to-date compared to one year ago, our numbers also show that approximately one-third of the areas in San Antonio saw price appreciation in February,” said Florence Terrell, the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® Chairman of the Board. “It certainly shows that all real estate is local; even in our own city.”
Additionally, pending sales for February increased for the fourth consecutive month rising to 1,168.
“Pending sales are indicators of next month’s sales,” said Travis Kessler, CEO of the San Antonio Board of REALTORS®. “Steady increases in pending sales reinforce the strength of our real estate market.”
The San Antonio Board of REALTORS® is the largest professional and trade organization in San Antonio and represents nearly 7000 REALTOR® members. SABOR is one of over 1,600 local boards and 54 state and territory associations of REALTORS® nationwide that make up the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).
